Boy, then, is a significant milestone in the Melbourne producer's career and offers an exploration of what he calls "neurotic funk" - a boundary-blurring fusion of jammed-out analogue electronics and live instrumentation that draws on a multitude of musical styles without neatly sitting in any one pigeonhole. Review: Since debuting in 2013, Mike Katz has released a lot of music as Harvey Sutherland, flitting between interconnected styles (electronic disco, deep house, jazz-funk, nu-boogie, revivalist New Jersey garage and Italo-disco) without ever laying down an album of all-new music. Thule Records is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of dub-influenced techno music, and has been a starting point for many of Iceland's most renowned electronic musicians. The release is completed with a deep and trippy remix from the Icelandic dub techno legend Octal Industries. The Icelandic techno youngling Waage brings his hallmark dub influences and creates an after- hours delight from the source material. Now some of the big names in the Dub techno scene make their homage to this classic and do so with style.įirstly we have the don of the Russian techno scene Andrey Pushkarev transforming it into a ultra-deep hypnotic voyage. Review: The majestic Aliens Don't Boogie was an instant banger when it was released back in 1999 and has been a regular in the bags for some of the largest DJ's in the techno scene for years. Once again Fragments of Reality delivers four unique excursions into different dimensions and soundscapes. Following a string of high calibre releases on Phonica AM and their own label the duo continue to make their mark as masters of cinematic sound design with this tripped out mind melter! FOR 02 is beautifully balanced with 'Enchanted' from Berlin based duo ERIS, known amongst other things for their releases on Tokyo based label, Cabaret. The flip side opens with 'Pyramid' a fresh new sound from a mysterious duo, Voodoos and Taboos. It's closely followed by 'Animal Anthem' from acid breaks maestro Rudolf C, that features his trademark multi-dimensional layers of sound wrapped up in a contemplative mood and finished with intense production skills. Night Moves spawned Day Moves, Field Moves, a B2B partnership, and many, many ridiculous parties in a range of wonderful locations. What then evolved was a journey in music, gatherings and friendship, and a lesson in how community can evolve from a dancefloor. Night Moves was born in 2012, after Jade Seatle and Jane Fitz visited Jenifa Mayanja in the summer of 2011, at home in Connecticut, and promised her a party to play at in London. Disillusioned with parties in London, rather than moan, Jade and Jane decided to make their own. They bonded that day over records, and a strange story about a pebble.
